Cheshire Residents Recognize Walmart Foundation Grant
On April 1, 2014, the Walmart Foundation welcomed Cheshire residents to a presentation at their Flanders store. Representatives from the national chain spoke of employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and shared their personal stories of advancement as Walmart employees. During the presentation Samantha De Sande, an associate from the Franklin store who has spina bifida, talked about her experiences working at Walmart.
The event was in support of the $28,000 training and education grant awarded to Cheshire Home. A portion of the grant will be used to purchase the Tobii Eye Gaze system, designed for people with paralysis, so that they can control a desktop, tablet or laptop through their own eye movement.
Walmart employs more than 2 million associates worldwide and is proud of its leadership in the areas of employment opportunities and corporate philanthropy. Many thanks to Kellilynn Auryansen, Human Resources Manager for twelve NJ locations, Airfonzie Peterson, Regional Manager, and all of the Walmart managers and associates who welcomed us so graciously.
