Transportation

On the move toward personal independence!

Cheshire Home operates a fleet of vehicles specially equipped for manual and for over-sized power wheelchairs. Cheshire Home BusOur drivers, trained in securing wheelchair-users for travel, provide transportation to residents, Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility as needs arise. Service animals and portable oxygen devices are permitted on our vehicles.

Our transportation formats are fully accessible.

While medical transport is of the highest priority, our transportation service also represents self-sufficiency. It enables residents to work, access higher education, socialize and recreate, and just as importantly, conduct the daily business of their lives, completing everyday chores such as banking and shopping.  Additionally, our recreation department offers group trips to locales throughout New Jersey, with full transportation included.

Our transportation services afford residents the opportunity to travel by choice, and maintain active lifestyles as they rehabilitate and pursue their long-term goals.

Cheshire Home is committed to providing the highest level of service, and ensuring that no person is excluded or denied the benefits of our services on the basis of race, color, or national origin as protected by Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Any Cheshire Home resident who has a concern or believes they have been subjected to poor service, or to discrimination may file a complaint orally to Director of Transportation Mandy Hecht at 973 966-1232 x219, or to Assistant Director Carol Corvino at 973 966-1232 x220.

Or in writing to:

Mandy Hecht, Director of Transportation, Cheshire Home, 9 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park, NJ 07932

In cases of discrimination issues, residents have the option to submit a complaint to:

Title VI Program Coordinator, East Building, 5th Floor - TCR - US Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration, Office of Civil Rights, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE, Washington DC 20590.

All Comment and Complaint Forms have been distributed to Cheshire Home residents and are also available at the onsite Cheshire Home Transportation Office, and our Non-Discrimination Policy is posted immediately outside of our Transportation Office, and also on each Cheshire vehicle.
